The Foundry.
Heat is the medium here. Every object that leaves the Foundry passes through a temperature it cannot remember.
A converted shipyard hangar wrapped in oxidised steel. Three crucibles, one open-hearth, and a slow-cooled annealing pit set into the floor.
Acquired from the estate of a retired naval architect in MMXIV, the Foundry was already half a workshop. Its original block-and-tackle remains in the rafters — still in service, still rated for two tonnes. Members refer to it simply as 'the room', a habit that began as understatement and stuck.
“Heat is the medium here. Every object that leaves the Foundry passes through a temperature it cannot remember.”
Open hearth runs Tuesday through Friday. The annealing pit requires booking three weeks in advance. Coffee is served on the gantry.
