Stonewake.
Stonewake works in negatives. Every lifted chip is a decision made and not undone.
A yard cut into the side of a working quarry. Three carving bays, a sheltered drawing room, and a small library of stone samples.
The quarry below has produced building stone for two centuries; the yard above has produced inscriptions, mostly memorial, for less than a decade. The house keeps a quiet archive of every commission, including the rejected drafts.
“Stonewake works in negatives. Every lifted chip is a decision made and not undone.”
Newcomers carve their first piece on a slate offcut, with a mallet borrowed from the senior carver. The piece is theirs to keep, or not.
